This is how the elected politicians of Kitimat, with their Private International Port, have decided to save their dying town. If they are going down, so is everything around them going to die. And there is no law to stop them. SUPERTANKER POLLUTIONOil spills have devastating effects on the environment. Crude oil contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) which is very difficult to clean up, and lasts for years in the sediment and marine environment.[89] Marine species constantly exposed to PAHs can exhibit developmental problems, susceptibility to disease, and abnormal reproductive cycles.
